Strengthening our connection to ourselves is a beautiful way to develop greater clarity, tap into our intuition and deepen our relationships with others. As winter continues to invite us inward, here are five gentle ways we love to nurture that connection.

1. Create a quiet morning ritual
Whether it's five minutes or an hour, beginning your day quietly and without screens gives your mind space to wake up naturally and avoid early-morning cortisol (stress) spikes. Mist your space with Sanctuary, take a few slow breaths, notice how your body feels, or just enjoy a cup of of your fave brew in the morning light. Remember, there's no need to change anything – just notice where you’re at.
2. Check in before you say yes
It's easy to move through the day on autopilot, making decisions out of habit rather than intention. Before committing, pause and ask yourself what you genuinely need. Maybe dinner with friends feels nourishing. Maybe staying home with a book feels better. Maybe today's movement looks like a gentle walk instead of the gym. Allow a moment to acknowledge and choose what feels right today. If you need a little extra help making your decision - turn it into a ritual: apply a very small amount of our Intuition Balm in between your brow (Yintang point), the cooling properties of peppermint in the balm will bring your focus to this point. Yin Tang, aka the "Hall of Impression," is known for calming the mind and is often associated with the third eye of insight and inner vision.
3. Make space for small joys
Connection to self doesn't always arise in the profound. It can arrive in those little rituals that make us happy-sigh. Toes in the ocean, your favourite Loco Love with a cup of tea or reading a trashy magazine cover to cover. These small moments of pleasure remind us that life doesn't always need to be productive to be meaningful.
4. Listen to your discomfort
Just as important as noticing what feels good is paying attention to what doesn't. Take a moment with a palm inhalation of Grounded Balm and ask yourself, what’s been niggling at the back of my mind lately? What’s been causing my heart to feel flat? Welcome all emotions, good or bad, to rise without judgement.
5. Spend time in the natural world
Our minds weren’t designed to spend every waking moment indoors, under artificial light and surrounded by constant stimulation. Research suggests that time in nature helps restore our attention and creates space for deeper reflection, making it easier to hear our own thoughts above the noise. Whether it's wandering beneath the trees, walking beside the ocean, or simply stepping barefoot on the grass, allow the natural world to guide you toward yourself.
